Our Story

Our company’s founder, Rob Hosken, grew up in a passive solar home in Madison, Wisconsin, where his family did not have to pay for heating on sunny winter days. This experience and a concern for humankind’s long-term future led him to start learning as much as he could about energy efficiency, green building, and sustainable / regenerative practices. Rob now promotes a new green economic paradigm via his professional and personal activities.
Building Performance Architecture was founded in 2008, with the goal of greatly increasing building energy efficiency and bringing a vision of green, healthy communities into reality. BPA first worked on whole-building-as-a-system solutions for single family homes. Over the years, we have increased the scale of projects that we can complete, while maintaining a whole-building perspective, with our largest projects including high-rise apartment buildings, school campuses, and major transportation hubs.
With staff members who are licensed professionals, and who have technical expertise and multiple credentials, our company focuses on improving existing buildings, quality assurance during the design process, and quality control during new building construction.
