After multiple decades with a disused and poorly-maintained movie theater, this prominent location in Pittsburgh’s North Side neighborhood now contains a new, modern 5-story, 45-unit apartment building, and 3 renovated apartments on the mezzanine level of the former theater building.

One requirement of the project’s zoning approval and finance package was receiving LEED for Homes certification for the project.  BPA served as the LEED Green Verifier and LEED Consultant for this project.  Using the ENERGY STAR Multifamily New Construction program requirements as the commissioning path for this project, BPA conducted design reviews, inspections, and tests to ensure the building would receive the required LEED certification.

As the project progressed, the Owner decided to add ENERGY STAR MFNC certification as well, so that they could receive 45L tax credits for the project, amounting to hundreds of thousands of dollars.  BPA tested, inspected, and worked closely with the Contractor to ensure that all applicable requirements were met.
