Reynolds West Apartments, located in northwestern Pennsylvania, participated in the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency’s (PHFA’s) Preservation through Smart Rehab energy audit and retrofit program.  This program grew out of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, as part of the stimulus law’s goal of promoting energy efficiency in existing buildings.  BPA was one of a limited number of PHFA-approved service providers for the Preservation through Smart Rehab program.

Located in a rural community, this low-rise apartment and duplex development contains 101 dwelling units.  BPA conducted energy audits of each type of dwelling unit, and designed and calculated financial-grade energy efficiency improvement recommendations, the most cost-effective of which were funded by PHFA, and implemented by an architect and a contractor.  BPA is grateful to know that our services assisted the residents of this development to have safer, healthier, and more comfortable homes, while reducing their utility bills as well.
